Robert Troy Must Be Investigated

This is a matter of National Concern- the behavior of an elected TD not declaring interests.

There absolutely must be an investigation into Robert Troy’s multiple, flagrant breaches of the ethics legislation- up to nine possible breaches.

He only apologised after he got caught, after a whole series of articles from The Ditch and other news sites.

In his statement, he admitted to a whole series of new, previously undisclosed breaches of the ethics legislation.

TD’s are required to declare interests in the Register of Members when they are elected, and every single year.

The whole point of the legislation is transparency. This law is in place in order that these interests are public knowledge.

To protect their majority in the Dail, Michael Martin and Leo Varadkar have come out in his defence.

This is another example of the democratically elected elite protecting itself, rather than serving the people they are supposed to.
