Joe Biden is scheduled to visit Ireland from April 15th. The mainstream media will present him as a man of peace who promotes the Good Friday Agreement and celebrate his Irish roots.
But Biden describes himself as the ‘leader of the free world’ and claims that his country is ‘the arsenal of democracy’.
In reality Biden has the most glaring double standards.
He imposes sanctions on Russia because of their illegal invasion of Ukraine and sends billions in arms. But he supplies huge amounts of aid to Israel even though it has been in occupation of Palestinian territory for decades. There is no talk of sanctions on Israel even though it has imposed a brutal apartheid regime on Palestinians.
And while Biden condemns invasions of sovereign countries, he has supported the Saudi dictatorship in their attacks on Yemen.
Contrary to myth, pressure for peace in the North came about primarily through mass mobilisation organised by unions. Tragically, there has been little peace dividend for working-class communities and instead, sectarianism has been institutionalised into the fabric of the Northern state.
People Before Profit will be holding a series of meetings to expose the double standards of Joe Biden.
