Poland was the scene of massive protests last week after a constitutional court, stacked with supporters of the conservative Law and Justice Party, banned abortion even in the case of fatal foetal abnormalities.
They want to force women to go ahead with pregnancies even when there is no chance a baby will survive. The slogan “Women’s Hell” has gone viral. A famous sportswoman and two time Olympic medal winner, Justyna Kowalczyk-Tekieli, summed it up when she said, ‘Polish women are diminished to the role of incubators. I do not know how one could condemn a woman to give birth to a dead foetus’.
