Demands for explanation as vaccination program cancelled in Ballyfermot
TD expresses huge disappointment for large number of over 85-year olds scheduled to get jab
People Before Profit TD Bríd Smith has said that the cancellation of the Covid vaccinations, due to have been administered today and tomorrow to almost a hundred over 85s in Ballyfermot, had resulted in huge disappointment and distress. The TD was reacting to dozens of dismayed calls by constituents in Ballyfermot who were informed that their planned vaccination was cancelled at the last minute without any explanation or alternative offered.
Deputy Smith said: “I have asked Minister Donnelly to explain why almost a hundred over 85s in Ballyfermot have been treated in this shoddy manner, with late notice of cancellation for a vaccine which would have a dramatic impact for them and their loved ones. It’s no exaggeration to say some of the calls I’ve been getting are heart-breaking.”
The TD said a number of questions needed urgent answers- including was Ballyfermot the only centre cancelled? When and why did this happen, as all other work and appointments at the primary clinic had been cancelled to allow for this program; and when can the residents of Ballyfermot expect to receive these jabs?
