Over 500,000 workers on two different payments face huge cuts this month as the Govt cut their income.
Both schemes ( Pandemic Unemployment payment and the wage subsidy schemes) were brought in in early March to help fight the Covid pandemic and support workers who had to stay away from work or whose hours were reduced.
But the pandemic is still with us, yet both the Pandemic Unemployment payment and the Employment subsidy scheme are being cut dramatically meaning huge drops in income for many workers.

Over 200,000 workers rely on the PUP (Pandemic Unemployment Payment). Its being cut from €350 to €300 for most , with many others facing a even steeper cut to €250. Earlier in June another 60,000 workers had it reduced to just €203 Euro.
Those on the Temporary wage subsidy scheme face even sharper falls in income.
Since 1st Sept the Government have cut the amount they give to workers in companies affected by the Covid crisis.
Before Sept, workers could have received up to €410 euro a week.But that’s now cut to 203 Euro a week.
Over 300,000 thousand workers will see cuts in their income as a result.
