Poor Housing Damages Children’s Health

The ESRI, has produced a damming report on how the housing crisis is affecting children.

They claim that respiratory problems (such as episodes of wheezing) were more common for nine-year-olds who spent longer living in poor housing conditions, such as damp, as well as in homes not adequately heated.

The refusal to bring in price controls is also hitting children. The ESRI point out that inadequate heating has a detrimental effect on child health and development.

Neoliberal economics is not a victimless crime. There are cruel costs that hit the most vulnerable.
