Determined Delfin Workers Out Again

Teachers at Defin Language School are on strike again today and will be out for the whole week. People Before Profit representatives, including Brid Smith TD and Gino Kenny TD, joined the picket at lunchtime. Deputy Smith made a donation to the €500 to the strike fund to keep the workers going.

The employer has given no indication of a willingness to talk. In fact, quite the opposite. He has written to the workers essentially suggesting that of the strike continues there will be lay offs. He does not  want unions but the workers are strong, determined and well organised.

In a positive development workers at another language school, IBAT, started industrial action today in pursuit of the same demands as the Delfin workers. Their key demand is union recognition.

This is an important dispute that must be won.  Get support going for them across the movement. Get motions passed in your job or branch and raise money for their strike fund. Send funds to the UNITE Hardship Fund earmarked for the Delfin Strikers.

There will be a pub quiz for the Delfin Strikers this coming Friday in the Teachers Club, Parnell Sq, Dublin 1, starting at 7.00pm.
