Wed April 15th, 8pm: The Healthcare Crisis In Our Nursing Homes

Wednesday 15th April 8pm

Brid Smith TD

Gerry Carrol MLA

Nearly half of all deaths from Covid-19 have been in nursing homes. That figure may even be an underestimate as there are problems with official death certificates.

Ireland’s nursing homes are mainly in private hands and international research shows that for profit nursing homes had a higher rate of infections – even before Covid 19 struck.

The government has added to the problem by not providing protective equipment for health care staff.

At this meeting People Before Profit examine what is happening in our nursing homes and its proposals for how to save lives.
