Diageo workers in Belfast are striking for fair pay. People Before Profit sends our full solidarity and asks branches to try and build support for this strike by visiting the picket lines if you can, raise support in your trade union, share solidarity online etc.
Diageo made 2.5 billion Euro in global profits last year but is refusing to end the pay gap between workers in Belfast and their counterparts in Diageo in England. It is another example of how corporations make huge profits through exploiting workers. These workers are on an 8-day strike that will last until December 29th. The Belfast plant is the world's biggest producer of Guinness Zero and representatives from Unite the Union who are leading the strike have stated that this may lead to a shortage of Guinness Zero this Christmas, and rightly so. Workers are at the heart of what Diageo does, not exploitative bosses.
Solidarity to the Diageo workers, they are an example to all workers being exploited during the cost-of-living crisis. We say pay them what they deserve.
