Sonya Borwick, a Northside Home Care Services Rep with the Independent Workers Union said, "Micheál Martin, Simon Harris, Jennifer Carroll Mac Neill need to stop hiding behind words and stop manipulating the healthcare to suit their agenda.
"These three ministers were responsible for the direct discrimination of Section 39 not-for-profit organisations.
"They that decided last March 10th that Northside Home Care Services - along with 22 other not for profit organisations - would be pushed out of this categorisation, clearly thinking it is acceptable to treat these vital workers in this cruel manner. The buck stops with them.
"On 17 December 2019 in Dáil Éireann every one present agreed it was disgraceful and discriminatory the way section 39 carers were being treated.
"All agreed this must change. Yet today we in Northside Home Care Section 39 not-for-profit organisations are still asking these same three ministers to give us our basic rights.
"They should stop destroying the care we provide and put an end to the the discrimination they created.
"On Wednesday 15 we are outside the Dáil. On Thursday 16 April we are striking again outside Northside Home Care Services on Bunratty Drive, Coolock -and we are determined to win our rights. Come along and support us!"
People Before Profit encourages all available members to show their support for the strike in person and online.
If you know anyone working in care service anywhere- encourage them to join their fighting union.
