The US and Britain are acting like old-style colonial powers bombing Yemen. Yet again, they are taking military action in support of Israel.
The Houthis declared that they would attack Israeli ships passing through the Red Sea. This was a military intervention on behalf of Palestinians. The US has been intervening on the side of Israel, sending them bunker-buster bombs to flatten homes in Gaza.
If the US and Britain were worried about ‘freedom of the seas’ they could have ceased military support for Israel. Instead, they are escalating the war by launching military strikes against the Houthis.
This is more shameful because Britain and the US supported Saudi Arabia when it was attacking Yemen. This forgotten war led to 150,000 deaths and another 227,000 from famine.
Today’s world is changing, and it is time to say it loud: Get the US and Britain out of the Red Sea. The days of colonial policemen are over.
