'It appears that migrants, refugees and asylum seekers are the latest victims in Keir Starmer’s new round of attacks on our most vulnerable.
'Contrary to what Starmer claims, the Labour government is not implementing this racist agenda out of concern for what is ‘right’ and ‘fair’. The British government is lurching to the right in response to the far-right Reform, who made substantial gains in this month’s local elections in England.'
'Rather than attempting to scapegoat migrants for a crisis in our public services and decades of neoliberalism and austerity, Labour should be making the case for immigration. Migrant workers are propping up a collapsing health and social care sector, looking after our children and young people and making an invaluable contribution to wider society. Many of them came here fleeing war and persecution from countries that Britain and other states have bombed and destroyed.'
'Labour have well and truly abandoned any pretence of caring for working class communities. Starmer’s crackdown on immigration will only serve to fuel the far right - but communities across the North will continue to challenge state-sanctioned racism at every opportunity.'
