“We encourage the broadest possible support and solidarity for the Further Education college lecturers strike on Wednesday 24 March.
An overwhelming majority of union members voted for strike action. They’ve been given no option.
The UCU are absolutely right to demand intervention by Stormont Ministers. This issue cuts across departments.
FE college lecturers have been told by the Employers Forum to accept a pay offer that amounts to yet another real-terms pay cut.
This is another insult following years of austerity.
It needs to be made clear to the government and employers that the pandemic has changed everything. Workers now know their worth. It’s time for justice, respect and equality.
Strike action sends that message. We all need to stick together.”
