Restore The Pension Age To 65

Heather Humphreys announcement that those over 65 will not have to sign on for Job Seekers Alliance is a concession to widespread anger.  But there will still be a cut of €45 on the pension.

But instead of celebrating we should demand the full restoration of the pension age to 65.

Scandalously, the pension age was increased from 65 to 66 by a former Labour Party leader, Joan Burton. Their intention was to keep pushing it up to at least 67.

During the last general election there was clear support to restore the pension age to 65.

We should keep them under pressure until we achieve that.
