People Before Profit Health Spokesperson Gino Kenny TD Calls For INMO Representation On The New Covid-19 Body

People Before Profit Health Spokesperson, Gino Kenny TD has condemned the exclusion of nursing and midwifery representation on the new Covid-19 Advisory Group. “Excluding nursing and midwifery ignores the reality of the situation in the health service. Nurses know exactly what it is like to work in overcrowded hospitals while dealing with a highly transmissible air-borne virus”.

Deputy Kenny said “Nurses and midwives bring a unique and invaluable perspective on the challenges associated with Covid-19 in our hospitals. Their knowledge and experience is crucial to ensure we have the correct future public health responses to Covid-19”.

Deputy Kenny also said “I echo the statement of the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation that exclusion of the voice of nurses and midwives is a mistake. Front-line perspectives are essential and underrepresented in the membership of this new body and I call on Minister Donnelly to rectify this matter immediately and ensure their representation on the new Covid-19 Advisory Group”.
