Richard Boyd Barrett TD said: “Trump and his far-right supporters reveal themselves as enemies of the democracy. Their “protests” are not for anything that will benefit ordinary American people but to sabotage the democratic decision if the people to remove a dangerous, billionaire, racist, megalomaniac from office.”
Gerry Carroll MLA said: “We are witnessing the bitter fruits of Trumps legacy unfold in front of us outside Capitol Hill.
“Trump has given encouragement, support and succor to people who don’t care one iota about democracy or the voices and views of tens of millions of Americans. Trump lost the election and he should step aside and stop engaging in these dangerous games.
“If he doesn’t step aside, I’m sure the many millions of Americans who didn’t vote for him, those who detest his policies will mobilise against him. If they do we need to build solidarity with them across Ireland to let them and the world know this is a Trump free zone.”
