It has been confirmed that US President Donald Trump will be in Dublin on Saturday 12th September.
The Irish Neutrality League, together with a broad coalition, has called a ‘No Welcome for Trump’ demonstration from the Garden of Remembrance in Dublin from 1pm on that day, Saturday 12th.
People Before Profit have called for a massive demonstration to make it clear that Trump is not welcome in Ireland.
People Before Profit’s Paul Murphy TD said:
“It has been confirmed that Donald Trump will be in Dublin on Saturday, 12th September. He should be met by a massive demonstration making it clear that he is not welcome here.
“He is an imperialist warmonger who is waging war on Iran right now, killing thousands of people and driving up energy prices and inflation for everyone.
“In January, Trump ordered an illegal attack on Venezuela. The US kidnapped Venezuela’s President and his wife and has seized Venezuela’s oil resources to use for the gain of the US and its billionaire class.
“The Trump administration arms Israel to the teeth to continue its genocide in Gaza. Trump has set up his grotesque ‘Board of Peace’ to take over Gaza to use it to further enrich his family and his cronies.
“He is rapidly unwinding measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and is stamping his boot on the accelerator towards climate catastrophe.
“In the US Trump deploys ICE, a paramilitary force, to enforce a violent anti-immigration regime that sees innocent people grabbed in the street, with some shot and killed by ICE.
“A US jury found that Trump is liable for sexually abusing and defaming E. Jean Carroll and awarded her €5 million in damages. Trump still refuses to release all the Epstein files, files that his name appears in tens of thousands of times.
“This is the record of who is coming to Ireland. Trump is a monster who is a personal danger to women and a political danger to the entire planet. He should be met by a massive demonstration to make it clear he is not welcome here.”
Richard Boyd Barrett TD and President of the Irish Anti-War Movement said:
“Trump and his monstrous agenda is a threat to the entire world, including this country. He is up to his neck in Israel's genocidal slaughter of Palestinians and instigating a war in the Middle East that is not only inflicting death and destruction in that region but is imposing more cost of living misery on ordinary peo[ple and workers in this country and across the world.
“He is a violent bully who has attacked and threatened to attack multiple countries around the globe and who promotes hatred, abuse and division against women, people of color and LGBT people.
“He is consciously encouraging the growth of the far right and their hateful politics. The bloodshed, hate and division that Trump champions is all being done to line his own pocket and the pockets of billionaires and oligarchs and the expense of ordinary working people.
“He is also actively goading European countries, including Ireland, to spend more and more on arms and weapons, in a way that strikes directly at our tradition of neutrality.
"Tragically our government and European governments are bending to his disgusting and dangerous agenda rather than resisting it. The government should be condemning and opposing Trump and all he stands for and certainly not welcoming him to this country. That's why we need to get the biggest possible numbers out on the street on Saturday, September 12th to send the clear message that Trump is not welcome and that his agenda will be resisted every step of the way."
