A 15% increase in public transport fares is on the way reports the Irish Times today.
When will it end? We can’t afford to pay for tax breaks for big corporations, electricity discounts for data centres owned by billionaires, and every rent hike and easy budget for Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil voters want!
Public transport is already a shambles for many forcing so many to use cars or taxis to get family members to appointments and school and often to work. Environmentally, this decision is backwards. For low-paid people and families we're being left on the side of the road again.
We need real investment in building an Ireland we can live in and an Ireland we can work in knowing it will support workers not just our bosses and their shareholders.
We encourage everyone to start organising to get to the Affordable Ireland protest on Saturday 19 September.
Join People Before Profit and get active now. The government isn't waiting for the next election to take action against working families. Why should we?
People Before Profit calls consistently for free frequent public transport. It's costed and it works. Join People Before Profit and start building the alternative we desperately need.
