Join The People Before Profit Contingent On The National Palestine Demonstration

Joe Biden has promised ‘ironclad’ US support for Israel. This, it should be remembered, is after a genocide has been carried out by that country on our very television screens.

Israel wants to destroy Gaza fully. It wants to make this small strip of land unlivable on – at least until Israeli settlers re-occupy that land.
In Ireland, the government pretends to have sympathy with the Palestinian people – but it refuses to take any action that will upset the USA.
This is why Simon Harris, in his latest PR stunt, said he would recognise Palestine.

While this would be welcome, we should note that the Dáil passed a resolution to do just this in 2014. Moreover, Harris has added, that the recognition will not come …just yet.

There are of course concrete things, Ireland could do. It could expel the Israeli Ambassador. It could call for Israel to be expelled from the EuroMed trade agreement and from the Eurovision Song Contest. It could implement a real Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions policy. And it could close Shannon to US wear planes.

This government will not do any of these things – so we need to evict them from office.

We need to show there is massive solidarity for Palestine and that starts with coming out for national demonstrations called by the Irish Palestine Solidarity Campaign.

This is why we urge all members and supporters to join the People Before Profit contingent on the next national Palestine solidarity march.

It is on Saturday 20th April 1pm Garden of Remembrance Dublin.
