People Before Profit Cllr Shaun Harkin said,

“Despite the US-Iran agreement intended to halt hostilities, Israel has conducted massive airstrikes in Lebanon killing hundreds of people and injuring more than 800 in recent attacks alone.

Entire towns have been bombed for extended periods, with civilian infrastructure such as hospitals and schools targeted or destroyed, leaving the population vulnerable and without essential services.

The horrors inflicted on Lebanon mirror those visited upon Gaza - the bombing campaign is indiscriminate, with civilians bearing the brunt of the violence. The death toll includes women, children, and the elderly, underscoring the brutal reality of collective punishment and disregard for human life.

The bombing of Lebanon is not an isolated military operation but part of a broader strategy of regional domination through violence and intimidation.

The British government must go beyond verbal opposition to the slaughter campaign in Lebanon by ending all arms sales to Israel.

The Irish Government must enact the Occupied Territories Bill, blocking Israel from profiting from stolen lands.

Shannon and Aldergrove Airports must become no go zones for US military planes, carrying munitions to the Israeli war machine to be used in contravention of international law.

There can be no more excuses for failing to take action against the barbarism of the Israeli war machine.“
