INTERNATIONAL NURSES DAY – SUPPORT THOSE ON FRONT LINE WITH PROPER PAY AND PPE

Tuesday 12th May is International Nurses Day. We should use the occasion to honour our heroes who are on the front line of the deadly Covid-19 virus. And not just with words.

Some nurses still do not have proper and appropriate PPE.

Others have not been granted the pay rise that was agreed after the last nurses dispute.

Some of those who answered Ireland’s call have been taken on to work on short term contracts.

We need massive support for all health care staff, but on this nurses’ day let’s call for:

·         Proper Pay and Reduced Hours

·         Proper PPE

·         Recruit more nurses to create a one tier heath service.

May 12th is also the anniversary of the execution of the great Irish socialist, James Connolly.

He would have approved of this support for our front line workers.
