Junior Ministers get an extra €45,846 on top of TD salary of €113,679. A record number of juniors created have been created to suit some of the Regional Independents. There will now be 23 junior ministers.
Kevin Boxer Moran, Marian Harkin, and Michael Healy-Rae will all hold junior minister roles and benefit from the extra salaries.
On top of that two of the ‘independents’ will become super junior Ministers. This means that they sit at cabinet meeting but don’t have a vote. The super junior gets another extra €13,135
So that is €172,670 for a “super junior” like Sean Canney or Noel Grealish.
Canney is a landlord who lets out property in Tuam and Galway.
But that is not all. The ‘independents’ want to keep a travel allowance of about €30,000 a year on top of these salaries. So Canney will be able to top up his salary by just under €30,000 a year in expenses, while Healy-Rae can boost his by about €32,000.
Just remember, this money will come from the public.
People Before Profit TDs only take the average industrial wage and put the rest back into community campaigning.
We need a strong left wing party that makes TDs accountable – not fake independents.
