Fri 23Rd Nov 2018 12:30Pm At Ncbi Clarence Street Dún Laoghaire About Closure Of Service

Protest tomorrow 1230pm at NCBI Clarence Street Dún Laoghaire about closure of service

Closure of facility will have huge impact on service users

A protest by the blind and visually impaired service users in Dún Laoghaire of the National Council for the Blind will be held tomorrow (23 Nov) at 12.30pm at the NCBI centre in Dún Laoghaire on Clarence Street.

The protestors are demonstrating against the closure of the centre and the transfer of the service and staff to Tallaght despite assurance by the HSE and the NCBI to the contrary.

The protestors want the service retained in Dún Laoghaire as commuting to Tallaght for many of the blind and visually impaired community living in HSE CHO 6 is simply not an option due to the virtual inaccessibility of Tallaght form Dún Laoghaire via public transport.

Service users will be joined by local TD Richard Boyd Barrett and People Before Profit DLRC councillors at the protest.
