A reading event to mark Gay Pride Week in Kerry was disrupted by far-right and fascist forces.
Twenty adults and children were attending a storytelling at Tralee Library when five people forced their way into the room to attack the LGBTQ+ event.
The far right are now showing their true colours. They hate how the people of Ireland voted for Repeal and Marriage Equality. They would like to bring us back to a period where the Catholic Bishops could make rulings on what was sinful – even while turning a blind eye to how some of their clergy were molesting children.
The disruption of the Kerry event shows just why the Forsa event in Cork last week is so important. Forsa called out over 500 people to demand that library management stand up to the fascists and protect library staff.
The bigots who had been trying to intimidate Cork library staff got their answer. We need to drive them back anywhere they attempt intimidation in any part of the country.
