In a shocking development, French President Emmanuel Macron has said that sending Western troops to Ukraine ‘cannot be ruled out’.
His announcement was made at a special conference in Paris which Leo Varadkar attended.
Macrons’ exact words were ‘There is no consensus today to send in an official manner troops on the ground. But in terms of options, nothing can be ruled out’.
When Macron mentions ‘official manner’, he is acknowledging that Western troops are already operating in Ukraine in an unofficial manner. But he is now preparing the ground for an official incursion by NATO into that country.
If that were to happen, it would lead to World War 3 and massive death and destruction.
This bellicose attitude is in sharp contrast to the attitude of EU leaders to Palestine. Most of them pretend to sympathize with the plight of Gaza but supply Israel with weapons and political cover.
Ireland, for example, has trained Israeli soldiers in the Irish Military College and has bought €15 million worth of arms and equipment from Israel.
The drive to war is accelerating. We need to stop it before it is too late.
