We need to take to the streets to defend the Smart Pass and free travel for those over 60’s.
The Department for Infrastructure (DFI) have a consultation ending next week where they are considering raising the age of eligibility for free bus passes to well over 60. This is unfair and unacceptable, and comes alongside a range of options departments are considering.
These proposals will punish the public and public services (including isolated and vulnerable people) in order to cover for the economic crimes of the Tories.
This scheme needs to be defended and we need to look at extending free public transport right across our communities. Get down to the protest on Saturday, let’s defeat this retrograde proposal and move on to the next fight to expand public transport.
