'Complete Betrayal' of BDS in Mid Ulster Planning Committee

Sinn Féin Must U-Turn On Latest Sell-Out on Extension for Moyola Engineering

Michelle O'Neill with her eyes closed. Protestors against weapons manufacturing at Moyola. Netanyahu holding Ben-Givr's close.

"The decision to approve an extension for Moyola Engineering, a factory which manufactures parts for F-35 fighter jets, has rubber-stamped local complicity in the international arms trade and catastrophic war crimes," Gerry Carroll said. "It is a disgraceful betrayal of the BDS movement."

"Components built locally are being bolted onto warplanes that rain terror down on Palestinians. Israel relies on the F-35 fleet to carry out its genocidal mania in Gaza and the West Bank. The US, who systematically supplies Israel with the jets, used the exact same F35’s to restart its war in Iran last night."

"Shamefully, Sinn Féin had the power to block this development and halt the expansion of the arms trade in Mid Ulster. Instead, they chose to abstain, providing political cover to military profiteering. You cannot wave the Palestinian flag on Monday and then stand aside to let a genocide complicit arms manufacturer expand on Tuesday."

"Moreover, Invest NI, which falls under the Sinn Féin Economy Minister’s remit, directly funds the arms manufacturer Moyola and the corporation also benefits from local rates relief."

"People Before Profit reiterates its demand for an immediate end to all state support, including Invest NI funding, for factories linked to global military programs. The party stands firmly with the anti-war and Palestine solidarity movements in demanding an end to local complicity in the Palestinian genocide and the global arms trade."

"At the soonest opportunity, the parties responsible for this decision must reverse it, particularly those who claim to be anti-imperialist. Recent history has shown that the pressure of the Palestine movement can force parties like Sinn Féin to u-turn on decisions which defy BDS demands. Now is the time for that pressure to be exerted once again, to not only block this extension but also to remove all state support for arms manufacturing companies."
