Cllr Joan Collins is the People Before Profit candidate for Dublin South Central in the General Election

Joan was first elected to Dublin City Council in 2004, and re-elected in 2009. She has earned a well deserved reputation as a hard working, capable and experienced public representative. Joan has a record second to none as a campaigner and organiser of ‘people power’ on behalf of working people.

Joan Collins says “this is the most important election since the early years of this state. Our country has been brought to its knees by the recklessness and greed of a wealthy elite, aided and protected by corrupt and incompetent politicians. We need real change, real fighters for ordinary people in Dail Eireann. Fine Gael and Labour will not deliver that change.
That is why I and other People Before Profit candidates have linked up with Joe Higgins and the Socialist Party, and other like minded groups, to form the United Left Alliance to contest the general election in the new year. It is essential that there is a real challenge to the rich and their political friends.

It is not just enough to get rid of this rotten government, we have to build a movement of working people, the unemployed, pensioners and those dependent on welfare and state services to stop what’s happening and fight for a completely new direction for our society. It’s time to fight back.”
