Céad Míle Fáilte Salah Hamouri

Former Palestinian political prisoner, human rights defender, lawyer and researcher Salah Hamouri is coming to Ireland for a six-visit tour organised by the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign, giving talks about his treatment by the Israeli government and the persecution of Palestinian political prisoners. Salah has spent nearly half of his adult life in Israeli prisons, first being interned after being shot at the age of 16. He was recently forcibly deported from his homeland (a violation of international law and a war crime according to Amnesty International) after being interned without trial and has been forcibly silenced by the French government, Salah being a dual citizen of Palestine and France.

Israel is able to uphold its apartheid government through its mass detention system, targeting human rights activists, political activists and elected politicians. Over 800,000 Palestinians have been interned in the last 60 years by the Israeli military during Israel’s occupation of Palestine. Israel uses this mass detention system to disorder and disrupt Palestinian groups who attempt to organise against this unjust regime.

Marking Palestinian Prisoners Day, Salah Hamouri will arrive in Ireland to speak about his work as a human rights activist with Addameer, his experience as a political prisoner in Israel and the role the Israeli prison system plays in the structure of apartheid. He will be speaking at the following dates, times and locations:
