Capitalism, Covid 19 And The Race For A Vaccine

With the real prospect of three different vaccines for Covid-19 on the horizon, there are many questions that arise.

Is the fast development of these vaccines a vindication of profit-driven approach led by the pharmaceutical industry? Or are there better ways to conduct research?

How can we ensure confidence in vaccinations at a time where breakthroughs are announced by press releases before they have even appeared in peer-reviewed journals?

And will access to vaccinations be equal across the globe, or will richer countries hoard supply?

To discuss these questions, we will be joined by Conor Reddy, who is a PhD researcher in immunology in Trinity College. Please fill out the form if you would like to attend.
