CAMPAIGN TO SAVE RESPITE SERVICES IN CHERRYORCHARD HOSPITAL: CLARIFICATION

Earlier today (14/07/09) the Campaign To Save Respite Services in Cherryorchard Hospital issued a statement welcoming the reversal of the decision to close the The Beech Unit. It has now emerged that this decision will now lead to cuts in a number of other respite units in the hospital: Sycamore, Willow and Laurel.

The Campaign is opposed to these cuts and is demanding that respite services be maintained at their current level. To do so would simply require the employment of 7 additional nurses and 5 care assistants at a minimal cost to the HSE.

The Campaign will be holding protests at the HSE Headquarters on Thursday at 12 noon and at Cherryorchard Hospital on Friday at 3pm.
