Call For Dáil To Sit Next Week

People Before Profit TD writes to Dáil Business Committee calling on Dáil to sit next week to allow for questioning of government over Golf Gate scandal, the reopening of schools, Health and Justice

People Before Profit TD Richard Boyd Barrett has written to the Dáil Business Committee calling for the Dáil to sit next week to allow for detailed questioning of the government over the Golf Gate scandal; to question the Education Minister on the provisions for the reopening of schools; Minister for Health on the new Covid restrictions and the Justice Minister on the proposed new Garda powers.

He said: “It is now impossible for the Dáil not to sit next week. The government is accountable to the opposition and the opposition need to be able to question the government over the Golf Gate scandal which has enraged people and led to a massive undermining of the credibility of the government and of the new restrictions.

“It is also imperative that the Education Minister comes before the Dáil to outline the details of the plans to reopen schools next week. It is also vital that the Health and Justice Ministers appear before the Dáil so that we can debate the inconsistent and confusing Covid restrictions and the proposed new Garda powers.”
