Last night the US Government disgracefully vetoed a UN resolution calling a ‘humanitarian pause’ in Gaza. The resolution was already extremely biased and didn’t include even a call for a ceasefire.
But this was just another in a long line of examples of the US support for Israeli war crimes.
In the face of the genocide being inflicted on Palestinians, Joe Biden went to Israel and offered his support to Netanyahu.
The US arms and provides billions of dollars annually to Israel. One of the reasons Israel acts with such impunity is because Biden has their back.
When Joe Biden came to Ireland earlier this year, People Before Profit refused to welcome him. Instead, we joined protests highlighting America’s bloody record in Palestine, and across the world.
No longer can we roll out the red carpet for Biden. The Irish Government and the main political parties on this island can’t continue to cosy up to US imperialism.
Grow a backbone, take a stand on the international stage. Challenge Biden and the US war machine, call out Ursula von der Leyen and the EU, condemn Rishi Sunak and the British-made bombs he’s supplying.
No more fawning over warmongers – Palestine needs real solidarity.
