Update On Status Of Climate Emergency Bill From Sitting On Joint Committee On Communications Climate Action And Environment

The report of the Joint Committee on Communications Climate Action and Environment regarding the progress of Bríd Smith TD’s Climate Emergency Bill was discussed at a sitting in the committee today.

The result of the meeting was that the joint committee would consider the draft report at a sitting of the committee on the 19 February.

Despite the procedural wrangle Bríd Smith remains hopeful that the bill can progress to the next stage of the bill process.

She said: “Hopefully the committee will pass the bill to the next stage without any more delays because the issue of global warming due to the burning of fossil fuels is to urgent to shy away from.”
