People Before Profit Local Election Candidates To Launch ‘Better Dublin’ Policy, Spencer Dock, Thursday 16 May 10.30Am

People Before Profit will launch their ‘Better Dublin’ policy document a head of the upcoming local elections on Mayor St. Spencer Dock in Dublin.

The event which will consist of a press conference and photo op will take place on Thursday May 16 on Mayor St. Spencer Dock, Dublin at 10.30am.

The ‘Better Dublin’ policy document outlines how a more socially inclusive, environmentally frenadly and fairer Dublin can be achieved. It provides People Before Profits vision fo Dublin.

Richard Boyd Barrett TD will be joined at the press event alongside People Before Profit local election candidates from around Dublin.

There will be a photo op followed by a press conference. There will also be an opportunity for journalists to speak to candidates on an individual basis after the main press conference.

The reason for Spencer Dock being chosen as the location for the launch is that it will provide a back drop of a tale of two cities- corporations; vulture funds, Kennedy Wilson in this case; and developers building huge amounts of high rise buildings in the middle of communities, paying no regard for the health and wellbeing of the community and the gentrification of these communities.

The residents in the area have had to endure 21 years of nonstop development which has resulted in health and mental health complications for them due to the high levels of dust and the lack of natural light.

Once all the development is complete the entire community will be blocked from natural light.

The new development is a direct example of the gentrification of working class communities.
