Last Saturday saw thousands marching against the hated and unjust water charges yet again. Alongside this great demonstration of people power many were also protesting against TTIP, or the Trans-Atlantic Trade and Investment Partnership, as part of a massive worldwide “Global Day of Action” against it and similar 'free' trade agreements, with over 750 protests worldwide.
Irish Water has been set up to get us to pay another double tax. In this pamphlet Cllr Brid Smith of People Before Profit explains how water is becoming the new oil, how the set up of Irish Water has nothing to do with ‘conservation’- it’s about taking money from the majority and preparing the ground for privatisation. The government and Irish Water often boast about a high registration rate for Irish water.
People before Profit has information that these registrations of names and addresses were not all registrations made by the occupier.

The strike on Holy Thursday by 6,000 Dunnes Stores workers is extremely important for Irish workers. The stakes are so high that Dunnes Stores management have been trying to intimidate staff for the past few weeks to try and break the strike. They have been calling individual workers into ‘communications meetings’ threatening some with a cut in hours if they go on strike, promising others full-time contract if they don’t.
On Friday March 13th, the Irish Congress of Trade Unions has called protest rallies against austerity in the North. Workers will come out on a one day stoppage after huge votes for strike action occurred amongst teachers, health workers and civil servants.

A political party is set to open an advice centre at one of Northern Ireland's most notorious peace lines, it can be revealed.
People Before Profit's only elected councillor here, Gerry Carroll, said the move is about bringing the people of the Falls and Shankill together.
The two government parties are holding party conferences within a week of each other. It is important that they are greeted with lively protests.
