William Lacey

My wife and I have lived and raised our family in Mornington/Bettystown for the past 22 years. I am an active volunteer in Local Community Groups which include Bettystown Tidy Towns, Beach Management Committee Laytown/Bettystown/Mornington and I am a registered volunteer with the St. Vincent de Paul Laytown/Bettystown/Mornington/Donacarney. I work in Drogheda train station as a Freight Guard and have been elected “Safety Representative” by my work Colleagues from Dundalk to Clongriffin Train Stations. I have negotiated successfully many issues on their behalf as it its crucial that all have a fair and balanced society.

I have been active in several different Campaign Groups and most recently the Campaign against the Water Charges. I have attended all the mass demonstrations and will continue to oppose the return of the Water Charges enforced by the Coalition Government using “Excessive Use” as a back door to impose a future tax on people.

Currently the “National Homelessness and Housing Coalition” has called for a public protest outside Dáil Eireann on 3rd October 2018 which I fully intend to participate in. The State should build rapid affordable Social Housing, “Free Market” is not the solution. Instead this has made the Housing and Homelessness a National Crisis which continues to grow. If we want a better future for our families and our Communities I believe now is the time for the people to act at the Local Elections. Your vote can truly reform our Country and move to equality and justice for all in our Society.
